Hi, Charlie -

No criticism implied. Your planners are great for a number of people, and the problem is they were almost right for me. As I said, the big takeaway from them for me was the absolute necessity for long-range planning. I'd been hiding my head in "What is it that I have to get done today?" for far too long.

Thank you for that, and thank you for commenting!

I'm glad you figured out the planners weren't the right fit for you, Carol. I've always intended them to be a tool that gets people closer to what they need rather than something that everybody must live by.

Interesting, though, that you think I'm a marcher. The truth of the matter is that I'm more improv than most people know - the planners paint the scene, and I go from there. Too much rigidity can be stifling; too few parameters lead to tons of dropped balls. We each have to find the balance that's right for us.

Thanks for sharing your process, too. It's great to learn from you.

P.S. I had to mention--I used the word "structures," though I understand your clarification around whether that's the right word. I think of "structures" as sort of being frames, or supporting beams underneath whatever you're doing. They keep things aloft, they help give form, but they don't get restrictive or confining.

The structure I see is akin to the dance steps--but the flexibility you maintain is akin to the actual dance, including its artistry & improvisation. :)

I can absolutely feel the rhythm in this process. It feels like a rhythm, like a flow--I think your dance metaphor is spot-on. There are certain steps happening, but there's plenty of room for improvisation within the framework.

This was interesting and really useful. You've got great structures in place, and I like the balance of what's set and what's flexible. There is a lot of fodder here for me to consider as I work on building structures of my own.

Thank you SO much for sharing this! I'm really enjoying getting ideas from people and just fascinated by how others use, structure, relate to--and dance with and within!--their time.

I like to post about recent experiments and dyeing results, mostly the good ones. Blogged about the discharge (color removal) class I took, and have gotten lots of comments on that. It's still a good reference for people with an interest in the class, or the process.
